Teaching and Learning Update

Bookweek Parade - Friday 28th August, 2026

Thanks to all those that contributed to the Bookweek Parade last Friday. Once again it was a great success and the teachers also did a fabulous job dressing up for the day.

It was great to see such a great turn out by families to watch the parade.

Reporting to Parents

Currently we have:

* A parent info session at the beginning of the year (about week 2).

* 3 way conference in week 6 Term 1

* 2 semester reports

* Learning expo in Term 4 (involves student's sharing goal achievements)

* Phone calls and meetings when requested by teacher or parent

* Feedback via Compass Messenger

The end of year Student report will include comments as the AEU Workban has been lifted.

Welcoming Our New Disability and Inclusion Leader

We are delighted to welcome our new Disability and Inclusion Leader, Erica Clark, who will be joining us on Monday, 7th September.

Erica will oversee our inclusion program and support students who require additional support, as well as working alongside staff and families to help ensure our students feel included, supported and able to thrive.

Erica joins us from Whittington Primary School and brings valuable experience and knowledge to the role.

Below is a warm greeting from Erica to introduce herself to you all.

Welcome to the team, Erica! We look forward to having you with us.

Hello Clifton Springs Primary School,

I’m so excited to be joining the Clifton Springs community! I’m a passionate educator and proud mum of two.

When I’m not at work, you’ll usually find me making sourdough, enjoying yoga or taking my kids to the beach to explore rock pools.

I’m really looking forward to meeting all the students, families and staff at Clifton Springs Primary School, building strong relationships and working together to maintain an inclusive and positive environment where every child can thrive.

I can’t wait to get started!

Erica

We have a large wellbeing team at the school that is housed in our wellbeing wing of the Administration Building.

We have our Wellbeing Officer, Sam Galle who works Tuesday – Friday. Her role is to provide social and emotional learning support to the Clifton Springs Primary School community.

We have a Mental Health in Schools leader, Amanda Edwards who works Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Her role is to support the school to implement effective mental health strategies aligned to social and emotional learning in the curriculum and whole-school approaches to health, wellbeing, teaching and learning.

There are several staff who support learning intervention including Jen Hayes, Amber Woods and Esther Costa and the education support staff. We have Kelly Clitheroe from Bellarine SC helping with Maths intervention and extension.

We currently have 36 education support staff. Some are assigned to specific student who have been funded but we have a couple who also support students waiting to be funded.

We also have members of the Salvation Army chaplain Donna Braden, assisting with student social and emotional needs and breakfast club or Outreach such as housing, food packages and other wellbeing needs as required.

School Parent Surveys

We have 13% respond so far. If you get a chance, please complete the Parent Opinion Survey. We do listen to your opinion and make changes where possible.

Squishies at School

We have recently had some issues with students bringing squishies into the classroom. Unfortunately, these items can easily break or leak, with the contents creating quite a mess in classrooms and on students’ uniforms. Some squishies may also contain ingredients that are not suitable for use around the school environment.

We kindly ask that students please leave squishies at home.

We appreciate your support in helping us keep our classrooms clean and our students’ uniforms mess-free. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
