School Captain's Welcome
Dear CSPS Community
We were inspired to apply for the School Captain role by previous school captains who did such a good job leading the school and being responsible role models. They represented the school so well it gave us the confidence to get us to where we are now.
The role of School Captain also involves being a SHINE Captain and leading the SRC. We will also have the privilege of being at the Drysdale Anzac Parade, Remembrance Day and representing the school in and out of school. We will also present reports to CSPS School Council.
Being a school captain means showing all our school values which are:- Kindness, Respect and Responsibility. All of us will be modelling these values in everything we do, when we are leading assembly, out in the yard, in class and outside of school. We want to make sure students have the best school year and feel comfortable at school.
Yours sincerely
Makayala, Miranda, Tess and Tobias
House Captains
A large emphasis is put on our House Program. Led by a team of four terrific House Captains per House, House focus events range from sporting events including Cross Country and Athletics, to reading challenges, acknowledgement of our Values Program and School Wide Positive Behaviours.
Our Mascots
In recent years, our House Captains decided a way to broaden the House system even further was to introduce House mascots. The captains brainstormed ways to make them suitable for all. They decided on using Australian animals native to the Bellarine area. We now have:
CORIYULE COCKATOOS
BAYSHORE BATS
SPRINGS SHARKS
DELL DOLPHINS
Student Representative Council (SRC)
The Student Representative Council (SRC) underpins a lot of what happens at CSPS. It has grown in recent years to become a pivotal factor in the success of CSPS.
SRC:
We have a membership of 28 students across Years 3-6 who are keen to make a difference to our great school and to drive it forward even further.
Some of the elements the SRC are driving currently are:
- each having a P-2 'Mentor Class' which they meet with weekly to discuss issues, get feedback from, etc
- Conducting surveys with students to ensure they are providing teachers with strong feedback as to how students are feeling about their learning.

2018 VicSRC of the Year Winners!!!
Although it was 2018, we wanted this information to remain on the website. We were so proud of our 2018 SRC for being Victorian Champions for SRC of the Year. It has inspired the next wave of young leaders to really make a difference, not only at CSPS, but also in the community.
Sound Engineers
A small group of students are trained up and become responsible for setting up the sound system for assembly each week. They also participate in the relevant roles and responsibilities associated with our bi-annual school concert.
Life Skills Leaders
Each year, 2 students from the Life Skills Group are selected as the Life Skills Leaders for the year. They help with planning the activities and take on extra responsibilities for the group.
Sustainability Leaders
CSPS has an enthusiastic Sustainability Team with representatives from Years 3 - 6 that are leading the way with initiatives such as Nude Food, recycling and reducing our energy consumption. All classrooms utilise compost bins and we have plans to further develop the notion of sustainability through increasing biodiversity. All initiatives help to educate the students and our wider community about the sustainability process and the importance of nurturing our environment.
The Nude Food initiative at Clifton Springs involves students bringing their food to school in reusable containers in attempt to decrease the amount of landfill we are producing. Not only does this educate students on the positive impact that reusable containers have on the environment but it also promotes healthy eating. Nude Food empowers students to make conscious choices about what they eat, and encourages them to think about their impact on the environment. All of our students are encouraged to bring Nude Food to school every day and a weekly award is given at assembly to ensure the importance of this practices is kept at the forefront of what we do.
The Sustainability Team will continue to work on new initiatives that arise to ensure we continue to grow on our sustainability journey.
