PRINCIPAL’S REPORT ~ March 4th, 2026
Curriculum Update
3-way conferences – Tuesday 10th March 12 noon – 7 pm
The 3-way conferences with your child’s classroom teacher will be on Tuesday 10th March (after the long weekend). This is a student free day, and you will be able to make a time to see your classroom teacher for a 15 min 3-way conference meeting from 12 noon to 7.00 pm. Families will need to make a Conference booking via Compass.
A questionnaire was sent home with your child last week. It is due back to your child’s class teacher this week. The information you provide will help to guide the conversation, however if more time is required to discuss this information, an alternative meeting will be arranged to discuss at a later date. The focus of these 3-way conferences is to encourage your child to talk about their goals, strategies and any evidence of how they have achieved them. This is a celebration of learning.
NAPLAN assessment – Year 3 and 5 students only, 11-16 March 2026
The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is an annual assessment for students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9. NAPLAN is a point-in-time assessment that allows parents to see how their child is progressing against national standards in literacy and numeracy and over time.
NAPLAN is made up of tests in the four areas (or ‘domains’) of: reading, writing, conventions of language (spelling, grammar, and punctuation), and numeracy. NAPLAN tests are one aspect of our school’s assessment and reporting process, they do not replace the extensive, ongoing assessments made by teachers about each student’s performance. Your child’s teacher will have the best insight into your child’s educational progress. NAPLAN testing will occur between 11-16 March 2026 (Term 1, Week 7-8).
The website www.nap.edu.au has a wealth of information about NAPLAN Online as well as a public demonstration site where you can see for yourself what kinds of questions will be asked for each year level as well as the format of the tests. There are also a frequently asked questions and information regarding tailored testing which is a feature of NAPLAN Online.
NAPLAN is for everyone. Clifton Springs PS supports inclusive testing, so all students have the opportunity to participate in the national assessment program. Adjustments are available for students with disability who have diverse functional abilities and needs. If you wish to withdraw your child from participating in NAPLAN or would like contact to be made with you regarding adjustments, please request the appropriate form from the school. Do contact the school should you have any questions or concerns regarding the implementation of NAPLAN.
Wellbeing Update
House Cross Country March 4th
P-6s participated in the annual cross-country event, which was held today. There was so much kindness from so many students as they encouraged each other, congratulated each other and did extra laps to support other students. Thanks to Amanda Edwards and Charles Vagg for the successful organisation.
Congratulations to all the students who did their absolute personal best. The House Captains did a wonderful job setting up on the day as well as setting down and leading their teams. Great work everyone!
