On Wednesday the1st June, Ms Hales an Mrs Tolley had the privilge of taking the Clifton Springs Soccer Teams to Ocean Grove to compete in the District Soccer Championships. We were lucky enough to have the winter sun shining and to have two amazing coaches for the day, Steph Towse (Mixed Team) and Megan Hillier (Girls Team). The Girls Team started the day with a win against South Geelong. They followed up with some great team play in all of their other matches and were unlucky to have no further wins.

Excitement was in the air as our Year 3 - 6 students headed off to Landy Field on 17/5/16 to participate in our annual Clifton Springs Inter House Athletics Carnival. The weather was kind to us and a wonderful day was had by athletes, spectators and volunteers alike. The day began with an 800m race which was an optional event for all students. It was fabulous to see so many young athletes rise to this challenge and compete to earn points for their team. During the day students participated in long jump, triple jump, shot put, discus, high jump, hurdles, 200m and 100m sprints. It was rewarding to see so many students give their all in these events with new school records achieved in the following events: Discus: 12/13 Yr Boys Owen B - 16 m 11 Yr Boys Luke A - 15 m 11 Yr Girls Imogen H - 15.50 m Long Jump: 11 Yr Boys Luke A - 3m 85cm 11 Yr Girls Alannah G - 3m 19 cm 10 Yr Boys Goerge P - 3m 10 cm 10 Yr Girls Bella F - 3m 06cm 8/9 Yr Girls Bonnie E - 2m 24cm High Jump: 12/13 Yr Girls Sarah M and Josie T - 1m 15cm 11 Yr Girls Imogen H has equalled the record at 1m 10cm 8/9 Yr Girls Bonnie Ehas equalled the record at 90cm 100m Sprint: 8/9 Yr Girls Belle F - 18.72 sec 200m Sprint: 12/13 Yr Girls Bronny I - 32.74 sec 11 Yr Boys Adam T- 33.93 sec 10 Yr Girls Heather D - 36.07 sec 8/9 Yr Boys Tarkyn D - 40.00 sec The 800m Run has also been added to our School Records Book, with the following Athletes being entered into this prestigious book: 12/13 Yr Boys James G - 3min 12sec 12/13 Yr Girls Bronny I - 3min 10sec 11 Yr Boys Adam T - 2min 59sec 11 Yr Girls Alannah G - 3min 17sec 10 Yr Boys Cameron F - 3min 21sec 10 Yr Girls Tiana V - 3min 28sec 8/9 Yr Boys Kai J - 3min 42sec 8/9 Yr Girls Belle F - 3min 37sec The Relay Events are always a highlight and this year they were followed by a 100m handicap dash where teachers, dressed in a wide variety of frivolous garments raced our School Leaders down the straight. Mr Hanson has claimed first place dressed in his clown pants, jacket and scarf - he will be the one to look out for next year! The final count saw 4th place go to Dell, 3rd Springs, 2nd Bayshore and Coriyule were awarded the trophy for finishing in first place. The students are to be commended on their excellent display of sportsmanship throughout the day and for the enthusiastic manner in which they cheered on their team mates and peers. A huge thank you too to our wonderful parents and family members who, together with our friends from Deakin and Bellarine Secondary College, raked, measured, timed, scored, recorded and marshalled. Without your support, this day could not happen. |
