The Digital Age, as wonderful as it is, can be fraught with dangers if not treated appropriately. At CSPS, we place a huge emphasis on Cyber Safety in all year levels and it has become an integral part of the curriculum. Some of the ways we integrate Cyber Safety into our programs are:
*SHINE - we use the forum of our SHINE lessons to discuss and learn about Cyber Safety. This is a terrific way for classes to discuss the benefits and pitfalls of the Internet and ways to remain safe online.
*Guest Speakers - we have Senior Sergeant Robbie Noggler visit our school annually to discuss to students and parents the importance of Cyber Safety. Robbie gives a range of tremendous tips to stay safe online and it is great for students and families to hear this from someone in the police force.
*Internet Usage Agreement - each student signs an Internet Usage Agreement at the beginning of each school year before they use any ICT equipment. This agreement is discussed in classes each term as a way of reinforcing the importance of Cyber Safety.
*E-Smart accreditation - CSPS is an E-Smart acredited school. We went through a self audit, staff professional development and training, and curriculum checks in order to become accredited. We have an E-Smart staff representative in each teaching team to ensure that all elements of Cyber Safety are being covered in classes.
