PRINCIPAL’S REPORT ~ May 13th, 2026
Wonderful Women’s Day
We refer to Mother’s Day as Wonderful Women’s Day, as many of our students do not currently have their mother in their lives, but do have other significant women who play an important role, such as grandmothers, aunts, family friends, stepmothers, or foster carers. To ensure our celebration is inclusive, we honour all the wonderful women in our lives on this special day.
Thank you to all the volunteers who helped make the stall on Thursday 7 May such a success.
Our Prep students enjoyed their traditional Wonderful Women’s Day celebrations in their classrooms last Friday afternoon, followed by the ever-popular Gumboot Toss. We had an incredible turnout, with approximately 100 participants stepping up to the line.

Maths Coaching – ‘I Love Maths’ and the Mathematics Association of Victoria
Over the past couple of weeks, teachers have been working alongside maths experts who have visited the school to model excellence in mathematics teaching and learning within the classroom. These experts have come from the Mathematics Association of Victoria and I Love Maths with Michael Minas.

Your children may come home talking about their experiences in these lessons. If you are looking for ways to further support your child’s learning at home, remember that all students have access to Times Tables Rock Stars and NumBots to help build automaticity in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division skills.
You may also find the following resources helpful for supporting maths learning at home:
School Captain Training
Our school captains attended student leadership training at Geelong Racecourse alongside other student leaders from across Geelong. The training was run by the GRIP Leadership team.
Some of the topics covered included:
- Everyone has different ideas and thoughts, and all are valid
- The responsibilities of student leaders
- Leadership through friendship
- Brainstorming new ideas to help others
- How they could achieve their goals by the end of the year
Once again, our school captains represented the school wonderfully and gained a great deal from the day, including making new friends from other schools and strengthening their own team.
