School Council Annual General Meeting and training
Last week saw our School Council AGM and the election of our new executive officers.
Congratulations to the following office bearers:
President: Steph Towse Vice President: Di Hobbs
Secretary: Jack Pidd Treasurer: Nina Iannello
Much of the “heavy lifting” of School Council is conducted in the School Council subcommittees– Finance, Environment/Facilities, OSHC, Canteen, Parents & Friends Group, Student Voice and Policies. I really wanted to commend our school councillors for their commitment to our school as they all nominated for a number of subcommittees in addition to their regular duties on council. They will begin their important work in coming weeks and may also approach other parents to help them with this work.
CSPS Environment Committee meeting tonight from 6:00pm
A reminder that we will be having a CSPS Environment committee meeting tonight in my office and I look forward to seeing our environment committee members there.
Bellarine Agricultural Show update.
Late last week, Mrs Petersen received word from the Bellarine Agricultural Show, that we were successful in winning the Judy Irons Perpetual Trophy. At assembly this week, we will be joined by some representatives from the Bellarine Agricultural Show to present this award. Congratulations to Mrs Peterson and the students for their fabulous work.
Responsible Pet Ownership
Having pets is a wonderful experience for children but it is important that they understand some of the key
things you need to know and do, to be safe and responsible around pets. This course brings in a pet educator and a trained dog to help children understand some of the do’s and don’ts. The course ran across Monday and Tuesday this week for all students from Prep – Year 2.
Moonlight Movie Night Feedback
The Moonlight Movie Night Feedback web form is still open on our website, so if you haven’t had a chance to fill in this form yet, then please feel free to do so as we want to hear your thoughts.
Sports Academy Stand up Paddle board Excursion
Unfortunately, due to the windy conditions last week, the Sports Academy had to postpone their excursion to this week. Today (weather permitting), they will have hopefully had a fantastic excursion looking at the sport of stand-up paddle boarding. We look forward to seeing some pictures from their excursion and hearing more about it in the near future.
House Cross-Country Today
As I am writing this banter in the morning, I am not able to include information about the House Cross-Country, but will hopefully be able to update my online blog this afternoon, so stay tuned. A huge thank you to Mrs Tolley and Mrs Hales who are putting in lots of hours in preparation for today’s event and for those who have volunteered to help. These events are always great and I will be looking forward to lots of team spirit and support from the students to each other.
Regional Swimming Championships
We wish two of our students the very best of luck as they compete at the Regional Swimming Championships today at the Kardinia Park pool. Good luck Elle and Lincoln!
Early Finish 2:30 this Thursday and Assembly from 2:00pm
As this Thursday is the last day of term 1, school will finish at 2:30pm and our assembly will be at 2:00pm. I wanted to also congratulate our students on the ever-improving job they are doing at assembly. They were set a few challenges earlier this term and have responded well, putting forward a much more positive and respectful approach, which has been led by our student leaders.
Outside School Hours Care
For those booked into after school care Thursday, this will of course begin from 2.30pm.
Until next week I wish everyone a wonderful week and remind all families that maximising attendance is a
critical factor in your child achieving their potential so, remember it’s not OK to be away unless you’re
