This week there will be a ballot for the staff positions on C and all of our Department staff will vote on these positions. Once this has been completed, I will announce all of our School Council prior to our Annual General Meeting.
Parents in the corridors
I really appreciate parents following our pick up and drop off protocols, which were outlined last week. A brief reminder for those who might have missed this information is that in order to keep our corridors open and safe for students to enter and leave and to minimise possible distractions to learning, all parents are asked to keep the corridors clear from 8:50am through until 3:30pm and to pick students up from their line up areas. Obviously if you have a specific need to attend the office or have an appointment with a staff member then you will still need to use the corridor. Again we thank you for your support in this matter.
Today’s 3 – Way Conferences are a vital part of our students’ learning and a great way to start the home- school partnership. At the time of reading this, many of you will have had your conferences and will be up to speed with your child’s goals. If you were not able to make your appointment for whatever reason, we encourage you to contact your teacher and make a time to meet at an alternate time. Staff have been instructed to keep to their time allocations so will be ending them on time, but if you would like to discuss things further, you are more than welcome to make an appointment for a later date.
Division Swimming Team
This Friday, 19 of our fastest swimmers will hit the pool to represent our school at the Division Swimming sports. Mrs Hales will be our school staff representative at the pool for the students and we know that she and the other students will be cheering our team on. We wish our students all the very best of luck and know that they will give their best.
CSPS Phone Systems
Late last week we received confirmation that we will be receiving some funding to update our phone and Public Address systems which have been pretty dire in recent times. This is a huge relief for us, as the phone system hasn’t allowed us to effectively communicate with parents, staff and the community. We will keep you informed on this front and let you know when the update has been completed. News just in our phone and PA system will be installed in the second week of the holidays to minimise disruption on classes and students. While this will mean we will have to live with our current phone system for a few more weeks it will be less disruptive in the long term.
Walking Club Friday from 8:30am
Our amazing House Captains have started a walking club for students each Friday before school from 8:30 – 8:50am. Students and families are all invited to join in for a walk around the grounds.
Music Position Finalised
Congratulations to Steve Jones who has been successfully appointed to our Music teachers role for the remainder of the year. We look forward to Steve continuing with us and I know the students will be delighted to hear of his appointment.
Bellarine Dental will be back this Wednesday to hopefully finish seeing students in Years 3-6 who returned their permission slips. They have been able to return earlier than first thought, due to a cancellation by another school.
Moonlight Movie Night March 4th
Our very first Moonlight Movie Night is rapidly approaching and we hope that you have been polishing your deck chair in anticipation. The movie for this event will be Pixels. Tickets are $25 per family if purchased before the night, or will be $35 on the night. There will be hot and cold food and drinks available to purchase also.
Prep students will continue to have Wednesday off until after the March long weekend. March 16th will be the first Wednesday they will attend school.
Until next week I wish everyone a wonderful week and remind all families that maximising attendance is a critical factor in your child achieving their potential so, remember it’s not OK to be away unless you’re sick!
